abstract = "This paper presents an algorithm for the segmentation and
representation of arbitrary contours using B-splines. The
algorithm is a modification of [6], based on the global structure
of the representation. Our modification improves the original
method in two ways: redundant information eliminating and better
data compression. We also present a B-spline segment descriptor
with four attributes. This descriptor, which we call
{"}Bs-descriptor{"}, is calculated from the guiding-polygon of the
B-spline. Some results of representation and matching of two
contours from both sinthetic experimental images are presented.",
